Bri and Minhi will work with our students in the hot shop for the week prior, and on Friday, January 28th, the residency will culminate in a showcase where the artists and our students work together. You can enjoy the collaboration on Facebook and Instagram!
About the Artists
Bri Chesler is a multidisciplinary artist focusing on three-dimensional design and sculptural installation. She has been featured at the Bellevue Arts Museum in Washington and was a 2019 Pilchuck Emerging Artist-in-Residence. Bri was also the recipient of the 2020 Chihuly Gardens and Glass Anniversary Scholarship and has an upcoming solo exhibition at the Center of Contemporary Art in September of 2022.
Minhi England is a Seattle-based artist working primarily in glass and metal. She earned her BFA from Alfred University, where she fell in love with glass and shifted her two-dimensional practice to sculpture. After graduating in 2010, England has been working as a professional glassblower and designer at numerous studios throughout the greater Seattle area.
Bri and Minhi have been cultivating an artistic relationship over the course of seven years as Liquid Lush Studio. Currently, Chesler and England share a studio space in Seattle where a majority of their work is created. The parallels between each individual artistic voice include examining beauty standards, self-perception, self-worth, and desire. The approach to similar concepts materializes in differing presentations, despite the overlapping message. The artists have collaborated in 2021 for the Pilchuck Glass School Hauberg Fellowship and have an upcoming exhibition in 2023 at Method Gallery.
