Hot Shop Hot Nights

November 3, 2023. 5 – 8 PM
The Hot Shop at Hilltop Heritage Middle School

This October and November, Joe Feddersen and William Passmore are in residence at Hilltop Artists!

During their week-long visit, renowned artists from the glass community set up in our hot shop, creating their own works, sharing with our students about their processes and experiences, and collaborating with Hilltop Artists.

The week culminates on Friday for our Hot Shop Hot Night, when we welcome in our community to see Joe Feddersen and William Passmore and our young artists in action.

At Hot Shop Hot Nights, expect to see a professional glass artist working with and mentoring our advanced production students and alumni, creating spectacular collaborative pieces. The Gallery is open for shopping, and tea, hot cocoa, and coffee will be available.

ABOUT THE ARTISTS

Joe Feddersen (Colville Confederated Tribes) lives and works in Omak, Washington. He is a celebrated printmaker, glass artist, and basket weaver known for uniting urban imagery and Indigenous design through simple geometric “glyphs” that poignantly reflect on people’s relationship with the environment.

Feddersen is a professor emeritus at the Evergreen State College in Olympia, Washington, where he taught from 1989 until his retirement in 2009. In 2024 the Museum of Art and Culture in Spokane, Washington, will present a major retrospective of the artist’s work. Feddersen’s work is held in numerous collections including the Seattle Art Museum; The Jordan Schnitzer Museum of Art, Eugene, Oregon; Portland Art Museum, Oregon; Whitney Museum of American Art, New York; Heard Museum, Phoenix, Arizona; and Peabody Essex Museum in Salem, Massachusetts. William Passmore (Okanogan and Arrowhead Lakes Bands) is a Seattle-based glass artist, sculptor, and designer. See his work and process at @swawillabill.
