The Pacific Seas Aquarium at the Point Defiance Zoo and Aquarium is getting four pieces of public art – and Hilltop Artists students get to help make one of them!\

Our students will assist Seattle artist Kait Rhoads in the Museum of Glass Hot Shop, where you can watch them and the Hot Shop team create colored glass tubing that will become the tentacles of Rhoads’ aquarium sculpture: three giant glass jellyfish.

Also blowing glass will be the Zoo’s jellyfish aquarist Chad Widmer, who’ll take the mic at 11:30 am, 2 pm and 3 pm to talk about these amazing creatures and the challenges of making them out of glass.

The Museum’s hands-on art studio will be open and you can try your hand at making your own jellyfish.

In honor of this special event, the Museum and Zoo are offering discounts to members and ticketholders.

All weekend, October 27 – 29:

  • Museum of Glass members and ticketholders get half-off general admission to the Zoo
  • Zoo members and ticketholders get half-off general admission to the Museum of Glass

Get your discount by presenting your member card or ticket stub at the entrance and mentioning Kait Rhoads Day.
